Chief Executive Officer
Brent Turner is the Chief Executive Officer of Summit BHC. Mr. Turner has more than 17 years of executive healthcare experience, including eight years as President of Acadia Healthcare, where he led the expansion of Acadia from six facilities to almost 600 facilities. He spent seven years at Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. as the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration. During his time with Psychiatric Solutions, the company grew to 95 facilities.
Jon O’Shaughnessy
President
Jon O’Shaughnessy is the President of Summit BHC. Mr. O’Shaughnessy brings over 35 years of executive healthcare experience to Summit. Prior to joining Summit, Mr. O’Shaughnessy was formerly a Division President for Acadia Healthcare where he oversaw operations at 19 facilities. Throughout his career, Mr. O’Shaughnessy has held various executive level and CEO positions with Charter Behavioral Health System, Psychiatric Solutions, Capella Healthcare and LifePoint Hospitals.
Jeff Barnett
COO
Jeff Barnett is the Chief Operating Officer of Summit BHC. Mr. Barnett was formerly a Division President for Acadia Healthcare, with experience overseeing facilities in 8 states. Prior to joining Acadia, he held facility CEO positions for Universal Health Services and Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. Mr. Barnett has over 20 years in the behavioral healthcare industry, including various administrative and clinical roles in private practice, outpatient services and inpatient services.
Chuck Edwards
Founder, CFO
Chuck Edwards is a founder and the Chief Financial Officer of Summit BHC. Mr. Edwards was formerly a Principal at Waud Capital, a Chicago-based private equity firm. Waud Capital was the majority owner of Acadia Healthcare, and Mr. Edwards was a member of the board of directors and oversaw the firm’s investment in the company.
Scott Schwieger
General Counsel
Scott Schwieger is the General Counsel of Summit BHC. Mr. Schwieger was formerly Chief Compliance Officer of Acadia Healthcare. He has more than a decade of experience working in legal and compliance roles in behavioral healthcare, including positions in the legal departments of Acadia Healthcare, Universal Health Services, and Psychiatric Solutions, Inc.
Jason Langley
Executive VP of Financial Operations
Jason most recently served as Division CFO at Acadia, a position he earned after an extremely successful turnaround at Delta Medical Center. He has extensive experience in financial operations, with a proven track record of success. Jason possesses the technical expertise, operational vigor, intensity and perseverance needed to drive performance and our future success.

Lisa Smith
VP of Human Resources
Lisa Smith is Vice President of Human Resources of Summit BHC. Ms. Smith was formerly the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Acadia Healthcare and has over 14 years of experience. Prior to joining Acadia, Ms. Smith previously held several other upper-level management positions at Universal Health Services.
Max Spiegel
VP of Digital Strategies
Max Spiegel is Vice President of Digital Strategies for Summit BHC and brings more than 20 years experience on all levels of digital marketing through positions in multiple industries. Prior to joining the team, Max served in the role of Director of Marketing and Technology for St. Joseph Institute since 2013. In addition to developing and maintaining St. Joseph Institute’s online presence, he was responsible for all facility branding, media, and marketing strategies and initiatives.
Nancy Sharp, MSM, BSN
VP of Quality and Compliance
Nancy Sharp is the Vice President of Quality and Compliance for Summit BHC. Ms. Sharp has more than 30 years of experience in the behavioral healthcare field. Her experience includes 20 years of multi-hospital responsibility on a corporate level with focus on the clinical product, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. Throughout her career Ms. Sharp has held various corporate leadership positions with Ardent Health Services, Haven Behavioral Healthcare, and Acadia Healthcare.
Rob Norris
Division Vice President
Rob Norris was formerly Group CEO for Acadia Healthcare. Prior to Acadia, Mr. Norris held several executive positions in the recovery field, including CEO positions at Bowling Green Brandywine Treatment Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Pocono Mountain Recovery Center, and Huntington Creek Recovery Center. Mr. Norris also served as executive director of Clearbrook Lodge, and director of utilization review at Clearbrook Treatment Centers. He is a graduate of Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. Mr. Norris has always focused on client-centered care. Patients first!
Rob Turner
Division Vice President
Rob Turner is Vice President of the Western Division. He began his career as a mental health technician at a residential facility for adolescents and has worked in all levels of care including hospitals, behavioral health residential treatment centers, day treatment and other outpatient programs as well as private practice settings. Since 2002, Mr. Turner served as a Chief Executive Officer in acute psychiatric hospitals beginning in in Alabama, North Carolina, and Nevada. More recently, he served in multi-facility roles as a Group CEO and later as a Division President for Acadia Healthcare.
Eric Kennedy
Division Vice President
Eric Kennedy brings more than 25 years of progressive experience to Summit BHC. He most recently serving as a Group CEO in the Boston market for UHS for the past 4 years. Prior to that he served as a Group CEO in Louisiana for Acadia. Mr. Kennedy’s intricate knowledge of operations will serve Summit well in safeguarding the processes, structure, accountability, and quality of care that we expect in all our facilities.
Joe Dunston
Division Vice President of Operations
Joe Dunston previously served as Chief Executive Officer and Regional Vice President Of Operations for Strategic Behavioral Health prior to joining Summit BHC. He also spent four years as Vice President of Behavioral Health Operations with The CawleyJohnson Group and was Chief Operations Officer of Carolina Regional Radiography. Mr. Dunston has a strong background in healthcare operations and business development and earned a Masters in Health from Tulane University.
Trey Carter
Founder, Executive Chairman
Trey Carter is a founder and the Executive Chairman of the Board of Summit BHC. Mr. Carter served as CEO for Summit for over five years before transitioning into his current role as Executive Chairman. Mr. Carter was formerly the CEO of Acadia Healthcare and has spent over 25 years in the behavioral healthcare industry. Prior to joining Acadia, Mr. Carter held various executive level positions with Universal Health Services, Charter Behavioral Health System and Tanner Behavioral Health.
