Farley CenterHampton Roads, Va. – August 1, 2022 – The Farley Center, an 82-bed facility used for substance use detox, rehab, partial hospitalization and outpatient services owned and operated by Summit BHC, has achieved certification as a Veteran-Ready Healthcare Organization by PsychArmor to offer its exclusive Tactical Recovery mental health and substance use disorder program for veterans and first responders.

“We are honored to announce that the Farley Center is now a Community Care Network provider with the Department of Veterans Affairs,” said Dr. Jonathan Lee, the Medical Director of The Farley Center. “The Farley Center is uniquely equipped to treat our servicemen and servicewomen – as well as first responders – who have bravely protected our country. We have the clinical, psychiatric and medical services to help our active-duty service members and veterans recover from PTSD, mental health and substance use disorders. We are passionate about recovery and are proud to offer this specialized programming tailored to our nation’s heroes.”

In Hampton Roads and throughout the country, there is an increasing need for credentialed and qualified residential behavioral health facilities to understand and treat veterans for both addiction and mental health needs. By understanding that military service’s trauma and stressors can contribute to drug and alcohol abuse, practitioners can ensure that veterans receive the level of treatment they deserve.

“While defending our freedom, veterans experience higher rates of addiction and psychological challenges than average Americans,” said Katie Ross, MSW, creator of Tactical Recovery and Summit’s Director of Veteran Services. “The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened these issues, which is why our mission is to increase access and create a treatment environment that recognizes the unique experiences and culture of the military community.”

The Farley Center has abundant experience working with the military population with several veterans and military spouse clinicians on staff. It is located in one of the country’s most densely populated military communities.

The Farley Center has used its PsychArmor training and an internal team of veterans and military spouses to create a comprehensive residential support program under the Tactical Recovery banner for veterans and first responders. The track is designed to ensure that treatment is provided in a culturally competent and trauma-informed environment, tailoring care to each individual using evidence-based practices proven to promote recovery in this unique community.

The Farley Center provides treatment services with medical doctors, psychiatrists, therapists and other clinical staff who specialize in addiction medicine and mental health. The facility has been approved to accept Tricare and VA Health benefits through the Community Care Network (CCN), allowing veterans and the VA to utilize community partners outside the VA system.
