The Parish Of Lafayette Brings Laughter to a Local Addiction Treatment Facility for Continued Healing

Lafayette Strong is not just a phrase, it is action and true meaning of this parish. For continued healing and support of recovery, comedy was the answer. A packed auditorium of several hundred local community members, treatment providers and clients, laughter burst from the souls and filled the air at Victory Addiction Recovery Center. The Burning Tree sponsored “Humor in Recovery” by Mark Lundholm for a Recovery Month Celebration. Eric Button with The Burning Tree commented, “We wanted to do something fun for the community, something to give back.” The Burning Tree, located in Texas is a partner in recovery and brought Lundholm to Victory Addiction Recovery Center in Louisiana for the Recovery Month celebration.
Recovery Month takes place every September not only to raise awareness of addiction, but to also celebrate living a healthy life in recovery. The celebration took place in the Victory Auditorium on September 24th. Prior to the main event, a social gathering with food trucks kicked the evening off which led into the hilarious and relevant comedy of Mr. Lundholm. “Victory Addiction Recovery Center is not only a leader in the state in addiction treatment but also serves as resource for the community and professionals. We wanted to have an event that raised awareness on the disease and also gave an opportunity for those early in recovery to see that there is healing in humor.” said Kerri Cunningham, Program Director of Victory Addiction Recovery Center.
